The Office of Shared Services (OSS) was formed on 1 July 2005 to provide corporate services to most general agencies of the Western Australian Government public sector. The Office of Shared Services is driving the implementation of efficient shared human resources and financial services for the public sector.
In October 2006 the primary pilot agency, the Department of Fisheries also came online, using finance and procurement functionality. This included a number of finance streams including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and fixed assets.
This is a great opportunity for us to sell our services on top of OSS as most Performance Management solutions are pre-integrated with Oracle. What does this mean for you? Well a Performance Management solution will enable you to get more out of OSS by giving you a business solution for business purposes. Some people find Oracle difficult to use, so why struggle along? Why not utilise Oracle as it was intended and use another solution as the user interface, by doing this you will ensure faster user adoption. Plus all of the Performance Management solutions work with the Microsoft suite, so users are familiar with both the data and solution.
We are already working with a number of government departments in WA including Department of Housing and Department of Treasury & Finance, we are also in talks with many more who are interested in Financial Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting, Reporting, Analysis, Dashboards or Scorecards.
There are many articles on the web arguing the single vendor strategy Vs. the multi vendor strategy, but many are out of date. In todays muture technology market with advanced integration, organisations can choose the best of breed solution for each area of the business. And remember we are independant advisors, so if you would like some advice when selecting a new solution then please contact us at
